Enter the expiry date of the five-year certificate. Its day and month are the anniversary date.
The windows show here once the expiry date is in.
The windows
Under the harmonized system of survey and certification, SOLAS regulation I/10 sets these for the Cargo Ship Safety Construction Certificate:
- An annual survey within 3 months before or after each anniversary date.
- An intermediate survey within 3 months before or after the second or the third anniversary date, in place of one of the annual surveys.
- A renewal survey at intervals of no more than 5 years.
- At least two inspections of the outside of the bottom in any five-year period, no more than 36 months apart.
The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency describes the same pattern for most five-year SOLAS, Load Line and MARPOL certificates: a survey within 3 months either side of each anniversary date, and only up to 3 months before expiry.
Keeping the anniversary date
Germany’s flag administration notes that a renewal survey completed more than 3 months before the fifth anniversary date gives the new certificate an anniversary date matching the survey’s completion date.
